Hillary Clinton tells Stephen Colbert she’s not running ‘for my husband’s third term’

On Tuesday night, Hillary Rodham Clinton became the fifth Presidential candidate to appear on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Clinton said she wants to be President to make it possible for more people, particularly young people, “to live up to their own God-given potential,” while she helps defend “women’s rights, gay rights and voting rights.”

Clinton also said “I’m not running for my husband’s third term, I’m not running for President Obama’s third term. I’m running for my first term. But I’m going to do what works, and we have an understanding of what works.”

She added: “The wealthy need to pay more. I’m just sorry to break it to you!’”

The Democratic presidential hopeful was joined by other guests such as chief-TV-personality Anthony Bourdain and Portlandia star Carrie Brownstein.

Clinton follows past Late Show guests from the campaign trail including Jeb Bush, Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs weeknights on Global at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT.
